Businessman Wins Yorkshire 42 Under 42 Award 2022

Last week YOLO’s founder, Scott Woodhead, took home the ‘42 under 42 Award’ for Yorkshire, at the coveted Insider Business Awards Ceremony held in the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. The event, hosted by Insider Media is made up of young and successful entrepreneurs, business owners and leaders that are doing fantastic things within their businesses. Scott is also one of only a few entrepreneurs to win the award in multiple regions, having been awarded it in the North West some years earlier.

In the last 5 months, YOLO has made two acquisitions - purchasing a key German supplier and recently acquiring London based Cosmetics Laboratory which has been serving brands like L’oreal and L'occitane for the last 15 years. They have just closed a deal last week to purchase a key US distributor which will enable YOLO to open its first USA office in 2023, to serve customers like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, and Target with its diverse product range.

“It’s a real honour to win this award, given the exceptional entrepreneurs that were shortlisted, and I want to say a massive thank you to my team that made this award possible. We still have so much more to achieve, the work is never done, so I am very excited to see what the next decade of YOLO looks like”

– Scott Woodhead CEO.

Considering that 60% of businesses fail within the first three years – even without the hardships Covid and Brexit presented, it’s a fantastic feat for a prospering Northern business to be awarded such a prestigious award. Awards such as this are not only a win for the individual and business themselves but also a huge win for northern economies. Proving that investment in the north is a worthwhile notion and enforcing the principles behind the government’s levelling up the north plan. The accolade awarded to the YOLO founder comes in light of growing interest in the North, and the perseverance of the company to expand internationally, overcoming the challenges that have been presented - particularly over the last few years.
